Sprouts are a Healthy Option
Sprouts are a great way to eat more vegetables. They are high in fiber, water, vitamins, and minerals. Shoots from leafy green sprouts like alfalfa, clover, sunflower, buckwheat, and speckled peas are high in chlorophyll and phytonutrients. The beans and legumes that you sprout are high in digestible protein. They have zero cholesterol, very little fat, and are a low sodium food. Sprouts are filled with the good types of carbohydrates, the ones you want to consume.

Variety is the Spice of Good Nutrition
You will be eating a wide variety of vegetables when you sprout. The key to getting the most nutrient value out of your food is to eat an assortment of fresh vegetables. Each vegetable contains different nutrients in different amounts. By eating a diverse selection of foods, you can get the nutrients you need, especially from a sprout you grew. Sprouted beans and legumes are high in protein. Leafy green sprouts can give us chlorophyll and vitamins. Adding fiber from sprouts to any diet is a helpful and tasty way to get these nutrients.

Last year we added the Biodegradeable Sure To Grow mats to our inventory. This is a growing medium made from Tencel Fiber. You can use this when you are growing your gelatinous organic sprouting seeds such as arugula and cress. I have been using it for all my leafy green sprouts even the alfalfa. clover, broccoli seeds and they have been sprouting better than ever. I believe it is because the mat helps to keep moisture at the roots and they don't dry out as quickly. The Sprout House organic seeds for sprouting are packaged in plastic jars for the 1 pound and 1/2 pound sizes. Seeds orders of 3 pounds or more are packaged in plastic bags. The basic wheatgrass supplies that you will need include a sprouter such as The Wheatgrass Starter's Kit, and a wheatgrass juicer. Don't forget organic hard wheat seeds, Kamut wheat seeds, or barley seeds. Wheatgrass juice has a sweet taste to it that many people enjoy. For basic health maintenance, take four ounces each day, two ounces in the morning and two ounces in the evening, on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything else. Therapeutic dosages of wheatgrass juice start at 8 ounces per day and should be approached ounce by ounce.
