The Sprout House
Got Pets? Get Sprouting! Yes, its true. Our beloved pets - birds, cats, dogs, horses, sheep, goats, cows, reptiles - they all love sprouts. And some of their humans like sprouts, too. You can buy almost any seed and sprout it for your animal, but there are certain ones that stand out as especially tasty to our friends. Hard wheat grass is great for cats and dogs. The small seeds are loved by birds and the larger seeds by the larger birds. We have sprouted the grasses for our shetland sheep and angora goats. I have sprouted sunflower for our Bernese Mountain dog who ate them with gusto and finished with some raw carrots. My Jack Russell Terrier/Beagle Mix eats bean sprouts most everyday. Sprouts provide vitamins, carbs, protein and fat for them. Soak the seeds in kelp fertilizer and they will also provide minerals not to mention roughage. Go ahead and experiment with your buddy and see if these mixes or seeds entices them into eating sprouts.
